2013 Black Culinary Expo tickets on sale now
We were so excited to see this event pop up in our newsfeed! Those of you who follow OBP know how supportive we strive to be of accomplished and aspiring entrepreneurs of color. That’s why we can’t wait to dive taste buds first into the 2013 Black Culinary Expo, which will take place on Saturday, June 15 in Brooklyn. The first of its kind, the expo will showcase Black culinarians from across the city and presumably the Tri-state area.
Serving on the Expo Event Board are 2012 “Hell’s Kitchen” contestant Chef Barbie Marshall, Master Chef Season 3 Finalist Chef Josh Marks, Top Chef Season 6′s Ron Duprat, and Celebrity Chef and Culinary Entrepreneur Wendell Price, among others. According to the official press release the event will feature an array of foodie-licious features and activities, including:

- Children Entertainment
- Live DJ & Entertainment

General admission is $35 for adults, $10 for children under 12, and $15 for students. There will also be a VIP Cocktail Reception for which tickets are $45; the price for general adult admission plus VIP reception access is $60. All can be purchased here.
Given the rich heritage of the Black culinary experience, an expo that’s dedicated solely to highlighting these traditions is refreshing. What’s more, the event host Black Street will be awarding scholarships to three deserving students who have demonstrated clear drive and passion in pursuit of their culinary careers. A tremendous show of commitment to helping foster the next generation of culinary artists.
